"America's Air Force"

America's Air Force was a site Greg created in 2005 to document his time in the US Air Force and to provide information about the military. By 2007, he took his name off the site and removed all photographs of himself, making the site anonymous. The site can still be viewed through the Wayback Machine. (Source)

Site

The site included a lot of information about Greg's first year or so in the air force. He kept an online journal, uploaded photos of himself and his family, and even kept track of his psychical and mental stats on the site. He even created a page for viewers to download wallpapers of himself and various other designs for their desktop.

Original Welcome Message

Welcome to AmericasAirForce.com!

This site was created to document the journeys and interests of Gregory J. Daniel (left) ~ A former citizen, pre-Airman & prior/currently enlisted military personnel.

Read through military journals, Q&A in regards to the US military and even get the opportunity to look over stories so you may find out all you need to know about the military lifestyle & activities in the US armed forces.

The main objective of Gregory J. is to inform American citizens & current military staff of what it is like to be an Airman, live the life of an Airman & generally get a good idea of what the Air Force is all about, while inclusive, others may sign up and inform the world of what their military-related jobs are made up of as well.

Updates

For a brief time, Greg would write short updates on his home page, which can be read here. (For his more detailed journal, click here.)

I recently found out that I'll be headed to Al Udeid in March of 2007. It's actually amazing that I'll have been in the Air Force for almost 2 years without getting deployed, before I ever joined I had the assumption that they'd send me right away... but no, I'm entirely prepared because of the delay. Emotionally, physically & otherwise, I'm ready to go, and I thank the AEF structure for that. But really, technically, it's more luck than anything else. 50% of the people I graduated tech school with (who were also sent to the same base as me) were deployed 2 months after they showed up.

I've got to say, it's kind of amazing realizing how many people I meet up with who have attempted to go through a special forces program like I did. Though my venture wasn't successful, I still look back on all the experiences with admiration... I never thought one of the highlights of my career in the Air Force would be putting on a backpack full of gravel, and crawling through a quarter-mile swamp in Texas. "Don't knock it till you try it." It was great... it always shocks me to see what people can do, even though I almost met an unfriendly fate thanks to a deadly water-snake, it was a unique experience. Everyone, military or not, seek out adventure, we only get one life (as far as I know) - live it

For those of you who are in the Air Force now, I strongly recommend, any opportunity you get, to go TDY (temporary duty) as much as possible. If you're single, there's not many reasons as to why you shouldn't volunteer. You'll be rewarded, in most cases, generously with lots of cost-of-living compensation & other related-expenses coverage. Not to mention you'll see a lot of things you wouldn't normally see. I just earned a bit of cash after volunteering to go to Arizona for 10 days, a place where you wouldn't see me unless it were work-related. I've got to say, it's one of the coolest states I've seen based on vegetation & man-made structures. But the weather was actually pretty awful like I had assumed.

As of lately I've been spending my days in Canada, working 8 hours a day, with probably two days off a week (which is great) ~ originally we were working 12 hour shifts one on, and one off, but the higher-ups didn't like the idea of us being in one place for 12 hours, so they switched it up and now were working a bit more. I really can't complain though because this is such a great job in comparison to all of the alternatives. I'm just happy to be here. Right now I'm making my normal pay (about $2,000 a month thanks to BAH & BAS) plus $21.00 a day and separation pay. So like I said, all is well. I'm looking to come home near the end of next month.

In about twenty days I'll be headed out to Canada to provide security to another plane. However this time I'll be in Canada for quite some time, a month in a half actually ~ it should be a bit hard being apart from my wife, but I've heard good things about how much money I'll make doing it ~ I should get at least seperation pay, which I've heard is at least $250 a month ~ so we'll see... I'm excited to be doing something different, I fear things that stay the same for too long. This is a reason why I joined the Air Force ~ if you want to see the world, you have to work at it sometimes, or you can be like so many others where you complain about it, but never do anything... [sighs] Alright, off to the briefing.

The feedback section is sated ~ you should check it out. Click this to view all the feedback & responses to feedback regarding this site. A lot of it is very helpful considering it is questions from both enlisted, officer & civilian perspectives. Thank you all for your continued support for this site.

More amazing feedback... please know that all the feedback viewers send in is subject to posting on this site, as stated in the contact form long ago. No names will be posted, however the words are essential for spreading the truths behind the Air Force around (mostly all positive). I thoroughly appreciate the USAF and all it's done for my life thus far. Just like anything else, there are downsides, but ultimately, with anything, it is about perspective ~ I'm looking towards reenlisting in a few years, which is uncommon for someone so new to the Air Force. Since my last posting, I have been promoted to A1C, E-3 ~ hopefully one day later one I can achieve BTZ (below the zone promotion to Senior Airman)

If anyone ever had something bad to say about the military, it wouldn't actually be about the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice), it wouldn't be about the training, or the lifestyle ~ it would be the people... and as civilians know, all types of people are scattered all over the world, strangely enough, there's always the slow one, always the jerk, always the weird one and so on ~ some look at the Military and say they can't stand it because the people are so rude, or mean ~ but really, you would find this in any office, any elevator... anywhere ~

The military is just like any other place, the main difference I see is the people who break the law, who are immoral and blind to right and wrong disappear faster than they would in a civilian job. The Air Force in specific seems to insure that those who drink underage, who drink and drive, who use drugs, who do horribly irresponsible things do not stay employed with the military for long.

If you're looking for the hard truth, the stronger side of the law & to live a life of ethics... integrity... it's here in the Air Force. I believe in what's right, nothing is unfair from what I see other than the small things, which comes with almost any job, anywhere. The strong push through, the others get caught up in the wind. I've not been in for long... but this does not mean I can't believe in my job, this country. Until next time...

As of late, I've been doing a lot of in-processing to Tinker AFB, OK - I was recently inspired to update this site due to some pretty powerful viewer-feedback ~ I appreciate the kind words I have gotten, and thank you all for supporting both the Air Force, and this site (which are very separate).

On the 11th of this month I flew home from tech school, and since then have been participating in a RAP program (Recruiter's Assistance Program) soon I will be headed over to Oklahoma...

I created a few new Air Force-based wallpapers in tribute to another site & Security Forces training, enjoy!

I've added a letter I wrote to my brother-in-law who recently enlisted in the US Navy click this to read what I wrote to him (currently in BMT) - I've also been taking part in a few military training exercises coordinated by USAF Security Forces, a few pictures have been gathered from these events, view them here:

As of late I've been having a few medical problems, but I keep pressing on... trying to avoid medical-hold, working towards a productive future despite my knee injuries sustained in SERE (I tried to ignore it there too) ~ I've been to the docs a few times, I ask them not to put me on med-hold, to just give me another waiver (exempting me from running) --- Hopefully by the time we go to the ARMY base for combat simulations I'll be better... I've been pushing past the pain for over a month now... I wonder when it will heal... Regardless, if you ever want immediate updates on my life, just drop by MessageHoard.com ~ my official homepage... it's where I live practically, you'll here my blunt opinions, the truth beyond false impressions ~ however little of it has to do with military, though I live the military lifestyle, I don't let it consume my creative life, that of which I clutch onto every chance I get...

Understand, I aspire for so much in this world, I want to achieve a high level of service to my land, the people of it, I want to show the world something it has not seen prior, something great ~ these two things make up what my life is pushing me towards... this one day... ah, never mind, I'll ramble some other time, just visit MessageHoard.com

I've updated the main page, scroll down one more row, and you will see what I have added. I've experienced a lot of stress lately, my only resort is to express that stress, and seek a solution, so others will not experience what I have, I do this for those that follow me ~ and for the sake of my own health.

The tech school section has gone under a significant update... you can now look more deeply into what the Air Force AETC program is all about from a Security Forces perspective - enjoy ~<

As of late I've been going through a tough time accepting my responsibilities to the Air Force, however, just yesterday, I had a revelation when we were taking part in Security Forces PT ~ I saw people I thought were stronger than me falling out of a simple run & cardiovascular work outs... I was acting as a road guard when I saw Staff Sergeants, Senior Airmen & various others (mostly males) falling out of a 3-mile run ~ out of everyone I was sprinting the most, running the hardest as I had to block traffic by running from the end of the flight, to the front of the flight, then later catching up with the flight when they passed... and in all this, I felt so strong ~ I then realized that I would be able to make it through SP, and become a significantly contributing worker for the Air Force. The point was never that I was physically stronger, it was that in one of the few areas in which I felt weak, I had actually excelled in ~ what does this say about the rest of my being?

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

The previous version of this site was hacked by communists (no joke) so I decided to build it from scratch, and make sure such an incident will not occur again. I am a webmaster, however, I never said I was immortal ~ no matter where you go in life, death, crime & general upsets can so easily occur ~ those with integrity never cause that corruption, they change the wrongs to right ~ I will do this every time I am pushed down.

You can now freely download wallpaper, and customize your desktop to tribute this site, the Air Force & our troops. Along with this you can find a sated directory of links to various other helpful resources & even refer a few yourself.

Demise

By 2007, Greg made the site anonymous, deleted all references to his name and photos of himself and family. By the end of 2007, he turned the site into an online training course for the air force.

By 2008, he turned the site into a re-direct to his Onision site until he presumably no longer owned the domain.
