Lainey, or LaineyBot, is Greg's current spouse. They have been together since early 2012.
In 2019 Lainey announced he identifies as a trans man and goes by he/him or they/them pronouns. ($ource) This article will be using he/him since Lainey has stated that is his preferred pronoun.

Early Relationship
Lainey says he discovered Greg online when Shane Dawson uploaded the video of Greg kissing Shane. The video was released August 6, 2011, so Lainey would have been 16 at the time.
Later that year, when Greg began having relationship issues with his then fiance, Lainey began fangirl tweeting him almost daily for a few months until Greg eventually contacted him.
On September 14, 2011, Lainey sent his first tweet to Greg. "@Onision i want to put up with your bullshit greg :)" This was a response to a now deleted video Greg posted titled "Single Again". This video was about his break-up with Adrienne. In the video he says, "Adrienne deserves someone way better than me and I deserve someone who... wants to put up with my bullshit." Lainey tweeted at him 6 more times in September.
On October 21st, Lainey tweeted a list of 6 celebrities and YouTube personalities he would marry. Onision was number 3. The next day Greg replied to him, "thats sweet of you to say~". He replied, "@Onision :D thank you for replying! That made my day :)" This was most likely their first conversation. (It was very common for Greg to respond with short tweets to fans at the time.) Lainey tweeted at him 3 more times until he began to start telling Greg he loved him over Twitter. October 29, 2011: "@Onision I will always love you. No matter what." November 13, 2011: "I wanted to chat with @Onision but it won't let me log in on my phone :((( I love you Greg!" This was most likely about a Live Stream he had on his YouTube channel with his viewers.
On December 14, 2011, Greg announced one of his break-ups with Shiloh through Twitter. He apologized for not listening to everyone that told him not to get back together with her. Lainey replied, "@Onision you shouldn't be apologizing. It shouldn't be a bad thing that you have such a big heart. Don't ever change. I love you <3". "@Onision I love you. Stay strong. I'm always here for you if you need someone." On December 20th, Lainey asks Greg to Skype: "@Onision ugh, I just love you :) haha. I wanna Skype sometime!" When Greg suggested his fans go vegetarian for their new years resolution, Lainey replied "exactly what I'm doing." He tweeted Greg a total of 20 times in December 2011.
January 1, 2012: "My #2012 wish is for @Onision to be a big part of my year." Lainey then tweeted a screen shot of her phone, revealing an image of Greg was her phone background. "I think @Onision should get on some form of chat so that I can chat with him :D" He tweeted at Greg a total of 5 times that day. On the 3rd, Greg replied a second time. His tweet was almost identical to his first one.
Lainey tweeted at Greg 27 times in January. On January 9th Lainey was worried about not tweeting him, "I haven't tweeted @Onision in like two days :(". He tweeted Greg twice the day before. By this time, they were not talking yet. Jan 12: "@Onision sometimes I feel like I miss you even though we've never met or talked. It's odd. :/" (Source)
The nearly daily tweets ended on February 15th. This "Taylor" Twitter account was eventually deleted and was replaced by LaineyBot.
Early Communication
At some point during Lainey's fan-girl tweeting, Greg followed him on twitter and they began casually talking over text.
In January 2015, Lainey released screen shots of he and Greg's early interactions along with conversations he had with a friend about Greg. The earliest screen shot was dated February 7, 2012. It was a conversation he had with a friend about tweeting Greg. Lainey excitedly tells his friend Greg tweeted 9 seconds ago. Lainey asks his fried how long he should wait. His friend tells him "Well don't send another-" (it's cut off). (Source) It is believed this conversation shows that Lainey would watch Greg's Twitter feed and wait for him to tweet so that when he tweets at Greg, he would be more likely to see it.
On February 1, 2012, Greg and Shiloh break-up for the last time.
The next screen shot is Greg's first direct message to Lainey on February 12, 2012. He asks "You really think you're my soulmate?" "If so... what makes you feel this way?". This was most likely a reply to a short Twitter conversation they had that same day. He tweets, "Soulmate... where are you?" Lainey replied "here." (Source) When talking about this moment in 2015, Greg says "I was already following this girl on twitter and I think we texted a few times prior, so it was extra meaningful to me." ($ource)
The next screen shot was Lainey and Greg's first text conversation, which is not dated. We can see Greg flirting with him, telling Lainey he would hug him the whole time when he got to Washington to keep him warm because Lainey had never been exposed to cold weather before. (Source) This shows they were planning on meeting up early on.
The last 3 screen shots were conversations with Lainey's friend. The earliest was dated February 13, 2012. In it, Lainey says he "needs Gregory". Lainey and her friend joke about kidnapping him and the friend's boyfriend to spend time with them in romantic Paris. (Source) The next day is when the next screen shot takes place. In it, Lainey questions if Greg loves him and wishes Greg would just tell him. (Source) The last was dated February 23, 2012. Lainey says Greg told him he wants to avoid Lainey because he doesn't want to risk falling for him. Lainey is confused by his mixed messages. The next day Lainey tells his friend to call him and that he has a lot to tell her. (Source)
Greg and Lainey began privately dating on February 27, 2012. (Source) Lainey was 17 and Greg was 26 at this time. Greg now says Lainey had originally lied about his age, claiming to be 18 when they began talking. ($ource)
New Mexico
In early March 2012, Greg began wearing a ring. (Source) When asked about the ring, he seemed proud to say that he had been keeping his life private. (Source) Around that time, Lainey began showing off an engagement ring in his Twitter selfies. In 2015, Greg revealed he proposed to Lainey before ever meeting him in person by telling him, "you know I'm going to marry you, right?" over Skype. He gave Lainey the ring when they met in person for the first time. ($ource) Lainey says they met in person for the first time on March 8, 2012. (Source)
Eventually, due to Greg and Lainey's Twitter activity, people began comparing his indoor filming locations with Lainey's Instagram photos. The rooms were identical. Also, Lainey began dropping hints he was dating Greg by wearing articles of Greg's clothing and paralleling their tweets about what they were doing when they were together. When this was pointed out in videos and on blogs in late May, Lainey deleted the images in question and made his Twitter account private. He would flip flop between private and public until their relationship was revealed.
Viewers also began to notice Greg had begun filming in a new location that was not his Washington home. Soon, it was found out that Greg was renting a home in New Mexico. It turns out he was in New Mexico to be with Lainey while he finished up High School. Some speculated they were keeping their relationship a secret due to the immense amount of criticism Greg received in the past for dating a teenager.
Lainey continued to post vague references to Greg and posted images where his and Greg's reflection could be seen. Greg seemed to be making similarly careless mistakes as well. One example is when he posted a full page screen shot of YouTube, but Lainey's Twitter can be seen in his bookmark toolbar. (Source)
There were two more major sightings of Lainey and Greg before Greg's reveal of Lainey to his fans. On July 18th, an image of Lainey and Greg was taken from Lainey's private Twitter and spread on Tumblr. He soon deleted it and began to be more careful (such as using reflections). The second sighting was on September 16, 2012. Lainey can be seen in the background of Cyr's video "Going Away...". It seems that Cyr came to New Mexico to make videos with Greg and they played mini golf together with Lainey. (Source)
Publicly Dating
On October 22, 2012, 6 days after Lainey turned 18, Greg announced his new girlfriend with an Instagram image of them kissing. A month later, Lainey appeared in his first Onision video. ($ource) For a while, Lainey did not appear in many of Greg's videos due to his dislike for being filmed. (Source)
LaineyBot
When Lainey and Greg began publicly dating, "Taylor" began going by "Lainey", or "Laineybot", online. He created a Laineybot Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr. Lainey says Greg gave him the nickname "Lainey". (Source) It is most likely a nickname for Lainey's middle name, Elaine.
Lainey sent mixed messages about if she preferred being called "Lainey" or "Taylor". At first, he said he didn't mind being called either and couldn't decide which she should go by. By 2013, he would get upset when people called him Taylor on her Tumblr. He said he never liked the name Taylor because it is unisex. (Source) It was later revealed at this time, Lainey's close friends and family would still call him Taylor on her Twitter and personal Facebook, including new additions to his family like Greg's mother. Some think he began pushing being called Lainey online to keep his online persona separate from his real life.
In October 2012, Lainey was thinking about changing his username to LaineyBug. (Source) This is thought to be inspired by Shane Dawson's then girlfriend, LisaBug. The month before, Lainey listed Shane Dawson as one of his favorite YouTubers. (Source) He did not make the switch because LaineyBug was already taken.
Tattoos

Lainey has gotten many tattoos with and for Greg over the years.
On October 24, 2012, Taylor tweeted about getting her first tattoo and revealed it was going to be her lucky number. (Source) Later that day, she posted a picture of her new "27" hip tattoo to instagram. She and Greg got matching "27" tattoos, most likely for the day they started dating, February 27, 2012.
On March 27, 2013, Onision uploaded "ONISION'S NEW TATTOO" to his speaks channel. He showed off his fresh touch-up on his "27" hip tattoo and he and Taylor's new matching "14" ankle tattoos. ($ource) This is most likely for the day they were married, November 14, 2012. In 2019 Greg revealed this tattoo is actually a "11-14"?? He says this tattoo is for the day he almost ended his life, November 14, 2007. He says he unintentionally got legally married on the same day. ($ource)
Greg and Lainey also got themed tattoos together of characters from the Mario video game series. Lainey got Yoshi and Greg got Toad. (Source) In 2018 Lainey got a three flower tattoo designed by Greg. Each flower represented a member of his family, the biggest one representing Greg. Lainey got a surprise tattoo for Greg on their 6th wedding anniversary that said "You are my strength" in Greg's handwriting.
Marriage
Greg and Lainey were married through the New Mexico court system on November 14, 2012. (Source) They did not announce their marriage and they did not have a wedding until the next year.
Ex-Friend
A week after their secret marriage, an angry ex-friend of Lainey's went to Tumblr to reveal what has been going on between Greg and Lainey. The friend later posted screen shots of her Skype conversations with Lainey to back up her claims.
According to Lainey's ex-friend, Lainey and Greg began talking after Greg noticed the immense amounts of tweets Lainey sent him. They began talking over Skype and began dating a week after he and Shiloh were over. Greg rented a home so that he could be near Lainey. He moved back to Washington because they decided they should not see each other for 4 to 5 months until Lainey starts college. When he began college, they rented an apartment and he planned to finish his semester, then move back to Washington in December. The ex-friend claims at the time of writing her blog post, Lainey's parents did not know he was married to Greg and living with him. The family believed Lainey was living in his college dorm. They also did not know he was planning on moving back to Washington with Greg and that he planned to travel around the world with Greg on Digitour while taking online classes. They also did not know that Lainey and Greg legally changed their last names.
The ex-friend goes on to explain issues she's been having with Lainey over lies he's told and his struggle to balance friends and his new found internet popularity. She also mentions that she believes Lainey is suffering from an eating disorder. (Source)
According to the Skype chat logs, it appears that Greg and Lainey decided to take time apart because Lainey's dad did not agree with their relationship. Lainey complains that his father says it's illegal, but Greg is speaking to his lawyer to make sure it is legal. Lainey says he couldn't go back to Greg's place (most likely the house Greg rented) because his parents would not let him. (Source) Lainey also talks about how Greg was asked to host DigiTour. (Admin note: Greg never toured with DigiTour and there are no online records of him ever being on the official 2012 line-up.) Lainey says he worked everything out (college) so that he could travel with Greg. He says it's a big opportunity for Greg, but his parents will kill him. In the chat, Lainey announces he will be married in 16 days and that his parents know nothing about it. He says they will have a wedding in the summer of 2013. He also announces he and Greg will be moving back to Washington in December. (Source) Lainey also spoke about Adrienne, complaining that she only was with Greg for 2 to 3 days compared to the months he had spent with Greg. He says Greg had never done any of the things Adrienne spoke about to him. (Source)
In another group of chat logs, Lainey talks about his weight loss. He talks about never feeling satisfied, even though he's been reaching his goals. The friend explains to him that it sounds like the beginning of an eating disorder. He says that he hasn't eaten over 1,000 calories in a long time and that day he had only eaten 50. Lainey talks about feeling guilty that she's not "the best" for Greg. He says he feel inferior. (Source) At the time, Lainey spoke a lot about her weight loss and goals on Twitter. He also would occasionally express how unhappy he was and tweet about crying. (Source) Some followers became increasingly worried that he might have been in the beginning stages of an eating disorder. It was also found that he submitted a photo of his collar bones to a thinspo blog. He would also post picture of himself under the "thinspo" tag. Worried followers tried to reach out to him, but he always denied ever having a problem.
In a 2015 YouNow live-stream, Lainey confirmed that this individual was a friend that revealed his secrets.
Bisexuality Denial
Around April 2013, Taylor's Teenspot profile from age 16 was discovered. The About Me read: "Im Taylor :) 16 and bisexual. I love athletic boys and petite girls. get to know me (:" Her Mood read: "looking for a nice girl/boy :)". (Source) When her bisexuality was brought up, Taylor would deny ever coming out as bisexual. (Source)
It was speculated Taylor denied her bisexuality because it was a common belief at the time that Greg did not trust bisexuals in relationships. This was due to a 2012 video where he yelled about how bisexual girls he had dated cheated on him. ($ource) Also, in a 2011 leaked email, Greg's ex Adrienne claimed Greg got mad at her after she made a status about receiving a massage from another woman. "He told me that because I am bisexual, that by nature I am inclined to be promiscuous and that I shouldn’t let anyone but him touch me. That because I am bisexual, I cannot be trusted — that I have been inappropriate with a member of one of the sexes I am attracted to".
Greg replied to a tumblr anon asking about the teenspot profile by saying Taylor could be whatever she wants to be and he denied saying "all bisexuals cheat". He included the tags "lol, silly, whatever". (Soruce)
Taylor and Greg have not directly acknowledged the existence of this profile. Since Taylor came out as bi in 2015, she and Greg say he was the one that encouraged her to come out as bi and never mention any previous coming out during high school.
In-Laws
After word began to spread of Lainey and Greg's secret marriage, a letter was sent to Lainey's parents around April 2013. The letter informed them Lainey was now married and warned them about how they believed Greg was dangerous. This caused a string of angry videos from Greg accusing a specific YouTuber of being the Snail Mail Stalker, and saying that Lainey's parents were creeped out by the whole situation.
Because of these videos, many viewers got the impression Lainey's family were right away on Greg's side and got along with him. Although, within the next few years Greg would reveal this was not exactly the case.
On October 10, 2015, Greg uploaded "Draw My Wife (Onision's Relationship Story)" to his main channel. In the video, Greg talks about how he became married to Lainey, but mainly focused the video on a family member of Lainey's he refers to as "Mr. Grump". He described how upset Mr. Grump, who is assumed to be Lainey's biological father, was when he found out his teenage daughter was engaged to Greg. Greg says Mr. Grump tried different ways of separating Lainey and Greg such as threatened Greg and claiming their relationship was illegal. Greg says he no longer associates with Mr. Grump because Mr. Grump joked about stealing their child. Greg also revealed private family issues to sway viewers that were sympathizing with Mr. Grump. ($ource) In April 2015, it seemed Greg was trying to convince Lainey to stop associating with his father. He indirectly called Lainey "immoral" on twitter for associating with someone that threatened his significant other. (source)
Greg has also shown friction with his in-laws when he lashed out multiple times at other specific in-laws over his public Facebook fan-page, which has over 700,000 followers. An example of this is when he attacked certain members of Lainey's family for being pro-circumcision. Another example is when Greg ranted about how horrible he thinks a specific younger member of Lainey's family is and revealed a lot of private information that he heard them tell Lainey. Greg is also known to poke fun at his in-laws religious beliefs.

Child/Children
On June 26, 2013, Lainey announced she was pregnant with a picture of his baby bump on Tumblr. "Newest addition to the family coming late December/early January :)".Later that same day, he deleted the image and posted to Tumblr and Twitter, "Congrats guys you’ve officially lost all of your picture privileges. Good job. Thanks for being extremely rude." When asked why, he replied "people are cunts & I'm not putting up with it." (Source)
After going back and forth on the matter, Greg and Lainey decided to keep their child off of the internet. For the first year, Lainey would talk about their child on social media and answer fans questions fans asked about him such as the baby's appearance and Lainey's parenting decisions. Then for a while Lainey would only brings him up vaguely when talking about breastfeeding in public. Greg consistently kept quiet about the child, only occasionally mentioning he is a parent in jokes and during arguments/rants criticizing other parents.
In 2016, Lainey and Greg had their second child. Lainey hid the pregnancy from the internet, but later talked about the pregnancy on Youtube.
Online Career
In early 2015, Lainey created a Laineybot Facebook fanpage, Younow, and a Laineybot YouTube account. He did not use her YouTube until later in 2015, when he began uploading challenge videos and re-uploads of Greg's comedy videos that he was in. For a while the channel consisted mostly of videos of Lainey and Greg sitting and asking each other questions. Many fans of the channel have commented that Taylor seems uncomfortable and/or quiet when filing with Greg and many have expressed they prefer videos he filmed with friends. (Source) Now Lainey's videos are centored around Lainey either telling stories or trying out products. The Laineybot channel currently has its subscriber count hidden.
It is a popular theory that Greg runs the Laineybot channel. This is mainly due to the style of writing in the videos, the video descriptions and the video titles. It seems more like Greg's writing. Also, for years it would refer to Lainey as "wife" or "girlfriend" and uses "she/her" pronouns, even though Lainey identified as agender and prefered they/them pronouns. Greg did not begin using these pronouns and referring to Taylor as his "significant other" (rather than "wife") until late 2016, but he did not do it consistently.
Beautybot
Lainey broadcasted on Younow to talk with fans all throughout 2015. He became partnered on the site and began to receive donations from fans. He abruptly stopped broadcasting and did not use Younow for a year and a half. (Source) One of his last broadcasts before the break featured Greg after many fans requested he come on. Lainey and Greg fought throughout the broadcast and Greg made mocked fans and anyone that donated. He stated he did not like Younow because it was like begging for money and Lainey asks "why do you ruin everything I do?" After the broadcast, Lainey explained to viewers this is why he does not come on the broadcast and that's how he is most of the time. (Source) Greg shortly came on Lainey broadcast a second time to advertise his book This Is Why I Hate You. (Source)
In early 2017, Greg began using Lainey's Younow to host debates and a broadcast with his fans. He explains he did this to help Lainey financially so he could be financially independent if Lainey wants to divorce him. (Source) This is something Greg expressed two weeks before the broadcast on twitter. (Source)
Lainey occasionally used Younow in late 2017-2018. After that, Lainey only used Younow to clear up information during scandals he was involved in, like the "grooming minors" scandal.
Public Fights
Unlike any other of Greg's relationships, Greg and Lainey would get into heated fights publicly on twitter. This began a few years into their relationship. One of the more infamous instances was a fight triggered when Lainey expressed excitement when a member of one of his favorite bands tweeted him. Greg became upset because this individual had blocked him on twitter and he believed because Lainey did not dislike someone that disliked him, Lainey was not being loyal. (Source)
Lainey and Greg will also vent tweet after a private fight between them. Lainey would usually vaguely or bluntly complain about something Greg said or did and Greg will tweet about how he is not deserving of his significant other because Lainey is too good for him. During these types of tweets, Greg would talk about how he is verbally or emotionally abusive. (Source) Once during one of these vent tweets sessions, Lainey revealed Greg told him he did not want to be married to him anymore. (Source) Occasionally, Greg will upload a video soon afterword to explain the private details of what happened between them.

Bisexuality
On July 1, 2015 Taylor came out as bisexual on twitter. (Source) On August 7, 2015, Greg and Taylor made a coming out video together for the Laineybot channel. ($ource)
At some point after, Greg announced that he is allowing Taylor to date girls. Taylor began contacting girls through twitter as potential girlfriends.

*In the early years of their relationship, Taylor and Greg would pretend they're splitting up on social media to create fake drama. He mentions this in one of his FAQ's. (Source)
- Greg and Taylor like to round up by year when talking about how long they had known each other or how long they had been married.
- In the first few years of being in the public eye, Taylor would often "abandon" her social media accounts when she gets frustrated with negative responses to her tweets. She would always return. The shortest absence was less than a day, the longest was a little over 2 months.
- Taylor revealed she and Greg were in a long distance relationship from June to August 2012. (Source) This is probably when they were laying low from her biological father, who was upset a 26-year-old man from the internet was engaged to his 17-year-old high school student daughter.
